Everybody and their mum seems to recommend BlueHost as a web hosting solution. It’s certainly very cheaply priced. However, I tried it for less than 24 hours before realising that it is far too slow, and I was barely able to install the WordPress theme I had only just purchased.
Research helped me to narrow down much better hosting alternatives. Hosts that would allow me to have quicker page load times, and offer more server resources:
Name Hero: This is the web hosting solution I currently use. It’s much faster, has unlimited SSD storage and starts from just £8.95 per month.
SiteGround: This was a close second for me. It’s actually recommended by WordPress and has good promotional pricing for the first three years. From £5.99 per month.
Cloudways: I’ve included this one as a wild card. Software developers I trust have pointed to Cloudways as their managed web host of choice. And, the page load stats do seem blazingly fast. This is the only host on the list that offers a short free trial. Happily, there’s no need to provide any credit or debit card details when taking up the free trial. Prices start from £10 per month.
Tailwind: This web app is mainly used for scheduling pins to Pinterest, sometimes months in advance. It’s a visual search engine that allows you to get your new blog content in front of people organically (i.e. without spending money to promote it). In my opinion this investment is a must. Use the link above to claim a months free trial. From $9.99 per month.
Google Workspace: I use this to set up my business email: [email protected] Having a business email that matches your domain projects a professional image, which is important when it comes to monetising your blog and forming business partnerships. I also like the freedom of keeping my blog files out of my personal Google Drive too. Get a 2 week free trial and/or 10% off a paid plan using the details below. Full price plans from $6 per month:
